Bluffdale City was incorporated in 1978. As the city has grown, more office and court space is needed. The former City Hall on Redwood Road was built around 1980 and is not up to seismic code. The Engineering Department was renting a basement office and several employees worked from home, including the Mayor.
The administration moved into the Fire Station ten years ago for more office space. The Fire Station had to be retrofitted (removing a bathroom for a desk, putting several people into one office and adding cubicles) to fit the police department as well.
The Council has done a great job deciding to build our City Hall on land the City already owns to save on costs and to stay fiscally responsible. Our City is quickly growing and the new City Hall will help us meet those needs.
A groundbreaking ceremony was held March 11, 2016 to begin construction. Monthly updates were included in the City newsletter. The City staff moved into the new building April 7, 2017. A public open house was held Saturday, April 22, 2017 with the ribbon cutting ceremony on Friday, April 28, 2017.
